Our family project develops ecotourism and conservation activities that showcase the natural and cultural heritage of the indigenous Arakbut people in the Native Community of Shintuya. Guests stay in a sustainable building constructed with traditional materials and techniques and minimal environmental impact. Rooms are double and the bathroom is shared. The house is surrounded by a botanical garden, perfect for observing local flora and fauna. From here you can immerse yourself in Arakbut traditions and gain an understanding of the worldview and present-day way of life of the people of this highly biodiverse area. The project is also notable for the local employment it creates. We offer a wide range of activities tailored to visitors’ preferences and fitness level, as well as the weather: cooking and tasting traditional dishes, body painting, Arakbut storytelling, interpretive trails, bird and wildlife watching, taking part in reforestation work, and visits to the area’s attractions, such as the hot springs and the parrot clay lick. We look forward to welcoming you to the jungle!

4:00 am: Departure from Salvación on the local bus. On arrival in Shintuya at around 6:00 am, our guide will welcome you to the Hak Sowewe Lodge, where breakfast will be served and you will have time to settle into your rooms.
9:30 am: VISIT TO THE FARM, GIANT TREES AND REFORESTATION AREA. A walk of approximately 30 minutes from the lodge to the farm, where we tour the reforestation area and learn about the flora and native crops of the region, such as cacao, banana, papaya, cocona and medicinal plants. From there we set off on the excursion to the "mere" bat cave, enjoying along the way the impressive sight of a variety of giant trees. These are the tallest and hardest trees in the jungle, such as the shihuahuaco ("kokmaro"), ceiba, lupuna and renaco, and they are home to many birds such as toucans, oropendolas, macaws and parrots. On the way back, depending on the time of year, we gather fruit and edible mushrooms straight from the field to use as ingredients for dinner, and fish can also be caught in the fish farm.
1:30 pm: Lunch at the Hak Sowewe Lodge. 3:30 pm: Guided tour of the lodge's botanical garden and reforestation nursery. 5:00 pm: Traditional Arakbut body-painting workshop: preparing the pigments, creating the body paintings and learning the traditional meaning of the designs. 7:00 pm: Dinner at the Hak Sowewe Lodge. 8:00 pm: Evening of traditional Arakbut storytelling.

After a picnic, there is free time to stroll along the riverbank, rest, swim and enjoy the sounds of birds and nature. 2:30 pm: Return to the lodge and free time. 5:00 pm: Bow-and-arrow practice and an introduction to its traditional uses. 7:00 pm: Dinner at the Hak Sowewe Lodge. 8:00 pm: Evening of traditional Arakbut storytelling.

We reach the trailhead at the foot of Cerro Pantiacolla, the sacred mountain that shelters the village from the strongest winds. From there we hike for approximately two hours to the Concoronmawe Waterfall, spotting a diversity of birds, insects, monkeys and lush vegetation along the trail. After swimming in the crystal-clear waters of the waterfall and having lunch, we return to the river. Before heading back to the lodge we enjoy a relaxing soak in the Aguas Calientes hot springs, a natural sulfurous spring. 5:00 pm: Traditional Arakbut cooking workshop, where you will learn to prepare typical jungle recipes such as fish cooked in leaves, fish cooked in bamboo, and roasted plantain and cassava. 7:00 pm: Dinner at the Hak Sowewe Lodge. 8:00 pm: Evening of traditional Arakbut storytelling.
