Itinerary

1. Day 1 Overview

   TAMBOPATA WILD – Culture & Adventure 4D/3N

2. Day 1 Arrival / Rainforest Walk

   The journey begins when you arrive in Puerto Maldonado and are transferred to board an outboard motorboat along the Madre de Dios River to Ecolucerna Lodge (approximately 1 ½ hours downstream). On arrival you will enjoy a delicious lunch prepared with organic ingredients and native flavors. After lunch you will take a walk along the natural trails, where you will discover and learn about the primary and secondary forest, its components, its uses, the changes made by man and its importance for the world. This walk ends after dark, giving you the chance to observe the behavior of the Amazon's nocturnal flora and fauna. Back at the lodge you will enjoy a restoring traditional dinner. Meals: lunch and dinner.

3. Day 2 Lake Sandoval / Night Safari

   Today is a day full of excitement. After a nutritious breakfast, you will get ready for a walk through the Tambopata National Reserve that leads to Lake Sandoval. Here you will understand why Madre de Dios is known as the biodiversity capital of Peru. You will learn about the reserve's conservation work and the formation of the lake while paddling a canoe across this mirror of water, home to the endangered giant otter, blue-and-yellow macaws and one of the largest freshwater fish in the world, the paiche. In the evening you will take a fascinating night excursion along the Madre de Dios River to discover its ecosystem, its Amazonian streams and the behavior of the nocturnal wildlife on the riverbanks. The day ends with a traditional dinner in the dining room. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

4. Day 3 Amazon Sunrise & Canopy Tower Visit

   Today is a morning of adventure. We head to the walkways built 15 meters above the ground, right in the treetops, where a privileged vantage point lets us enjoy a unique, relaxing and informative landscape. We will have the chance to watch birds and, with a little luck, spot a mammal in the heart of the Amazon. After this adventure we return to the lodge to continue enjoying your stay. In the afternoon, after lunch, we can visit the gardens and native farm plot to taste the fruits and harvest of the season. This is a social project that teaches agriculture to the local population in order to reduce logging of forests and green areas. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

5. Day 4 Breakfast / Transfer to Puerto Maldonado

   This morning is free for you to enjoy the sunrise and capture the impressive views over the Madre de Dios River. You will enjoy one last nutritious breakfast made with organic ingredients from our pantry before departing. Your guide and the lodge staff will say goodbye and thank you for visiting this corner of the Amazon. You will travel by motorized canoe back to Puerto Maldonado, where, depending on your flight time, you can relax and calmly wait for your flight home or to your next destination. Meals: breakfast.
