Vinicunca or Winikunka, also known as the Mountain of Seven Colors, Rainbow Mountain or Mountain of Colors (the locals call it Cerro Colorado), is a mountain, or Apu, with an altitude of 5,200 m.a.s.l.
It is located on the way to the Ausangate glacier in the beautiful Peruvian Andes, in the Cusco region, between the districts of Cusipata in the province of Quispicanchis and Pitumarca in the province of Canchis.
In the mid-2010s it began to attract large numbers of visitors, drawn by its series of multicolored stripes, the result of the mineral composition of its slopes and summits.
