ARRIVAL IN THE CITY OF CUSCO
Upon arrival at Cusco airport on your Lima – Cusco flight, our staff will be waiting to welcome you. The city of Cusco sits at 3,400 m.a.s.l., so we recommend drinking a natural coca leaf tea to help you acclimatize and avoid altitude sickness. After pick-up we will take you to your hotel, where you will receive a short briefing on the different tours you will take in the city of Cusco. You will have the rest of the afternoon free to rest before your city tours begin the following day.

ITINERARY
Starting point: Cusco – 6:30 am
End point: Cusco – 6:30 pm

After breakfast, our staff will pick you up at your hotel and take you to our transport bound for the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Along the way we will enjoy beautiful landscapes, flora, fauna and impressive archaeological sites. The places we will visit in the Sacred Valley are:

On this day our staff will pick you up at your hotel at 3:00 am and take you by private transport to the train station in the town of Ollantaytambo (about 1 hour 30 minutes). There you will board the train to Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu (about 1 hour 30 minutes). On arrival, our staff will be waiting for you at the train station to give you the final instructions. According to your entry time to Machu Picchu, you will take the Consettur bus, a 30-minute ride up to the main entrance of Machu Picchu, where your guide will be waiting to enter with you. Once inside, the guide will lead you through the different areas of the Machu Picchu citadel.
At the end of the tour you will leave the citadel and walk a few steps from the main gate to the bus stop to take the Consettur bus back down. Back in town you will have a free afternoon to have lunch and explore Aguas Calientes. According to your return train time, you will go to the Aguas Calientes train station and take the 3:00 pm train back to Ollantaytambo, where our staff will be waiting for you with a sign bearing your name to drive you back to Cusco (about 1 hour 30 minutes). You will be dropped off at Plaza San Francisco, from where you will make your own way to your hotel.

On this day our travel agency staff will pick you up at your hotel at 8:00 pm and take you to the bus terminal in the city of Cusco for the 8-hour journey to the city of Puno.

ARRIVAL IN THE CITY OF PUNO AT 5:00 AM
Upon arrival in the city of Puno, our staff will pick you up at the bus terminal and take you to the hotel, where you can have breakfast and freshen up. At the scheduled time your guide will pick you up to begin the tour of the islands (2D/1N), starting at 8:00 am.
This tour begins at 8:00 am. We will first visit the floating islands of the Uros, boarding a comfortable boat from the port of Puno (30 minutes). After visiting 2 floating islands we will continue on to Amantaní Island (2½ hours), arriving around midday, where we will be warmly welcomed by the local families.
Accompanied by the families, we will walk about 30 minutes uphill to the local homes on Amantaní Island, where we will have lunch of typical Andean food from the island. After settling in and resting, we will hike to the top of the island to visit the Inca ceremonial temples of "Pachamama and Pachatata."
After taking in the beautiful views of the lake in all its splendor, we will wait to watch one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. Finally we will return for dinner at the local homes. In the evening the families will host a welcome party (optional), where we can dance and dress in traditional local clothing, accompanied by local musicians.
VISIT TO TAQUILE
We start the day with a typical breakfast and then walk down to the port of Amantaní (around 8:00 am) to board our boat to Taquile Island. We will walk uphill to the main square, from where we can take in views of the island and learn more about its customs and textile traditions. After lunch we will walk down to the port of Taquile (1:00 pm) to return to Puno, arriving at around 3:30 pm.
Back in Puno we will have the afternoon free to explore the city. According to our PUNO – CUSCO bus ticket, we will go to the bus terminal to board the bus back to the city of Cusco (about 8 hours).
Arrival in the city of Cusco at 5:00 am. Our staff will pick you up and take you to your hotel and then on to the airport for your connection.
