History of the South Valley
South of the city of Cusco lies the area known as the South Valley, a region of great importance in the development of the Inca Empire. It is the perfect route for travelers who want to experience archaeological sites and magnificent landscapes away from the crowds and in a short amount of time. This territory was one of the first inhabited places in the entire Cusco valley: the first settlers, from the culture known as Marcavalle, lived here around 1000 BC.
